How are transfer values and wages calculated? (1)

Both a player's weekly wage and transfer value are driven primarily by Overall rating, with some real nuance on top. Wages come from a fixed band based on Overall. For example, a 70 OVR player earns around 2,800/week, while a 90+ OVR player starts at 30,000/week and climbs steeply from there, up to 120,000/week for a 99 OVR world-class player. Age adds a small loyalty/experience bump on top: players 30+ get a 10% wage bump, and 27-29 year olds get 5%, reflecting a bit of extra bargaining power for proven, experienced players. Transfer value is more layered. It starts from a base value calculated off current Overall using an exponential curve (so the jump from 85 to 90 OVR is worth far more than the jump from 60 to 65), adjusted slightly by age. On top of that, there's an 'upside' component: if a player's Potential is higher than their current Overall, that growth gap is priced in too, but scaled down by how much realistic developing time is left. A promising 18-year-old gets a big slice of their potential value baked in; a 32-year-old with unfulfilled potential gets none, since there's no runway left to actually develop into it. Versatile players (able to naturally play more than one position) also get a flat +5% value bump per extra position. Every player has a value floor of 50,000, no matter how low their rating. When listing a player on the transfer market, watch out for the anti-snipe rule: any bid that lands within the final hour of a listing resets the clock to a fresh hour, so last-second sniping doesn't work here. Genuine bidding wars play out over time instead.
